“Unconventional Babysitting Instructions: Mother’s Hilarious List Goes Viral”
Leaving a list of emergency contacts and instructions for the babysitter is quite common. However, instructing the sitter to breastfeed your children on demand or encouraging an unlimited sugar intake and hours of television is far from ordinary. Yet, one parent did just that last week.
This unidentified mom left a comprehensive list of tips and rules for the babysitter, replete with humorous advice that has the internet in stitches. The list was recently shared on Twitter by YouTuber @malikbrazile, whose girlfriend encountered these unusual instructions at work.
In a handwritten note, the mother outlined ten ‘rules & tips,’ all presumably intended as jokes. One of her directives humorously suggested, ‘I encourage the kids to watch as much TV as possible, so they will leave me alone. Feel free to do the same.’
She further advised against wasting time on cooking or healthy snacks, advocating for pizza instead. The note also contained an amusing declaration: ‘They do still breastfeed on demand—just download a video on YouTube. It’s not hard, or I wouldn’t do it.’ This point struck a chord with the babysitter and her boyfriend, given that the kids were described as ‘mad old.’
The mother offered additional tongue-in-cheek advice, such as not taking kittens, candy, or puppies from a man named David, who might be a neighbor. She also warned against getting into his van. When it came to other neighbors, she suggested treating them like Jehovah’s Witnesses if they appeared at the door, not lending them any supplies, and emphasizing that they knew where the store was.
The note continued in a similar lighthearted fashion: ‘Let the kids have as much sugar as they want, as long as they will go away. They take pills to sleep anyway.’ The mother even permitted the babysitter to have a boyfriend over, with the condition that he had a male relative for the mother to contact if necessary.
The list rounded off with a few more jests, such as advising the sitter not to answer the phone unless she wanted to pay the bills and endorsing snooping, provided it was done while cleaning. Finally, she wrote, ‘Do not believe ANYTHING the kids tell you.’
The list has already received 33,000 likes on Twitter, and hundreds of people have commented on this amusingly unusual babysitting experience.
