‘The Challenge’ Star Nelson Thomas Officially Charged with DWI Following Near-Fatal Car Crash
Nelson Thomas, a prominent figure from “The Challenge,” has now been formally charged with DWI in connection with a life-threatening car accident that occurred earlier this year.
Documents obtained by TMZ reveal that Thomas faced this misdemeanor charge in Texas at the end of September. Law enforcement officers noted that he displayed “bloodshot, glassy eyes” and claimed that another vehicle had abruptly swerved in front of him prior to the collision.
According to the documents, Thomas informed the police that he had consumed “only 2-3 mixed alcoholic drinks.” However, officers reported detecting a “strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from his breath” while he was receiving treatment for his injuries at the hospital.
A blood test conducted during his hospital stay revealed a BAC (Blood Alcohol Content) of .178, which led to his charge being elevated to a Class A misdemeanor.
In a previous report, it was highlighted that Nelson Thomas was rescued from the fiery vehicle by individuals, including Minnesota Vikings receiver K.J. Osborn, who were passing by in an Uber. Their swift action likely saved his life, and Thomas later expressed his gratitude to K.J. for the heroic rescue.
Thomas also shared images of himself from the hospital, displaying severe cuts and burns on his body. His GoFundMe campaign received an outpouring of support and financial contributions from fans and fellow reality TV personalities, including Corey Lay, Mark Long, and Tori Deal.
