A tragic incident has rocked the community as a 21-year-old female water polo instructor lost her life to a brutal attack with a hammer. Lilie James, who worked at a prestigious school in Sydney, was discovered lifeless with severe head injuries inside St. Andrew’s Cathedral School in the heart of the city around midnight on a Thursday morning. Her father contacted the police after she failed to return home, initiating the investigation.

The suspected killer, a former colleague identified as Paul Thijssen, 24, and also a former sports coach at the elite private school, came under immediate scrutiny. He made a chilling phone call to the police approximately four hours after authorities believe the fatal assault occurred. The details of this phone call remain shrouded in mystery, but it has been disclosed that he reported the discovery of the body to the police.

CCTV footage reveals Thijssen following Ms. James into a gym bathroom at the school at around 7 pm on Wednesday. An hour later, he exits the area, but Ms. James never reappears from the bathroom, as reported by The Daily Telegraph. Four hours later, Thijssen reached out to the authorities. A trace of the call led them to the clifftop at Diamond Bay Reserve in Vaucluse, known as ‘The Gap,’ where they discovered a backpack and some of his personal belongings.

It is worth noting that during the COVID-19 pandemic, Thijssen had been in Australia alone for a substantial 18-month period. A school insider suggested that while he may not be considered psychotic, the isolation experienced during this dark period may have had an impact on him.

Furthermore, it was revealed that Ms. James had been in a ‘secret relationship’ with Thijssen for a few weeks leading up to her tragic demise. This incident has sent shockwaves through the community, leaving many searching for answers and justice.
